Power Strokes 1994-1997 Upgrades and AftermarketUpgrading or adding OEM or aftermarket equipment to your 1994-1997 Ford F-Series with Power Stroke engine.
I have been using this site for awhile but never posted so here i go. I have a 97 F350 which includes a custom intake and exhaust and i am in the process of ordering the Wildman chip...l know i dont have injectors or anything major done but what type of smoke can i expect from either the extreme setting or the actuall smoke setting. Any input would be greatly appreciated
you'll be able to throw out some smoke...Even more so with a manual transmission if thats what you have....however if you are out to just make smoke, be prepared to watch you fuel gauge drop before your eyes

my 01 has street extreme and smoke and they all smoke about the same
also not telling you how to spend your money but without injectors don't waste a lot of money on more positions than you need. if i could have gotten a 2 position i would have. if you tow 3 are justified. something for cruising around town, something for towing & your choice of how hot/how much smoke you want. i don't see the point in having a stock tune on a chip... we mod our trucks so they don't run like gutless underpowered overweight pigs.
The most hp gain with stock injectors will be about 80. The air and exhaust upgrade will be good as well. 80 hp gain is still quite abit and you will be impressed with it. As stated dont spend money on more tunes as they will not do anything more for HP gain with stock injectors. The high idle is great to have. As far as smoke, you are just burning more fuel. I have Wildman chip with baby swamps injectors and most of the time I drive in economy mode unless I want to beat someone off the light. I hardly use the Xtream mode at all. I have High idle/economy/daily tow / extream tunes.
Economy is what I use 80 % of time. Tow is more than enough for jumping off a light.

thanks guys for your help but for my satisfaction i have one more thing..see i live in an area where my truck is an outcast and people fight over how nice their bmws are. i throw minimal smoke as it is right now, probably a 2 on a 1 to 10 scale from the guys that didnt do the injector mod yet what can i expect

It will be enough to pi** someone off. I really torqued a guy in a convertable mustang who liked his music more than I did.
