I have the chance to buy a wrecked 95 1 ton with about 220K on it. Front axle is in perfect condition, tires have about 1000 miles on them. The tranny was put in about a year and a half ago. Its pretty much the same as a monsterbox tranny if not one itself. I know it is a jasper product. It was hit in the pass. side front so that fender is toast. The driver side is brand new from ford, the bed doesnt have a lick of rust on it or dents or dings. I am about 95% sure that the engine still runs and if not I am pretty sure I can get it to run. All in all its a pretty good truck, its been in the family for about 5 years now so I know pretty much whats been done to it. The insurance company quoted us around 2600 for it, what do you guys think? Worth it?

I'd say yes. The motor alone should be worth over $1000, the D60 $1000 and the bed another $800. These are low prices, should be able to get more even. Along with the other parts you could sell it would be worth it, if looking to repair it I still think it would be a good deal. Guy up here had a '97 that was hit on the passenger side, rolled and drug upsidedown by the tow truck. Body was shot but everything else was good. He could have bought it from the insurance company for $500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (he didn't!!!!) Wished I'd known about it a month earlier

Um, you say the trans is pretty new? Stock rebuild unit? Are you planning on fixing the truck or parting it out?
