zf5 to automatic question

I want to change my truck to an automatic, if I got the wiring, tranny and the pcm, what else would I need to do for this to work?

Re: zf5 to automatic question

If it was me I would buy a PCS controller, That way you can program the trans to do what you want it to do Not what Ford wanted.

Pics are from a SD, but the main points are still the same. Oh, and they can do it for you.
Cale also does tuning.

Re: zf5 to automatic question

It's ashame you are so far away...I would gladly swap my auto in my 97' with your manual. I really don't want a ZF but I would doa swap with you just to get the pedals and linkage and crap I need for a manual.

Brent.

Check on the cross member and drive shaft(s).
Another option is to have your pcm flashed for an automatic. Install a shift kit or VB and programming. It can be chipped with the flash or compatable chip/programming that works with the V B changes. I like the mechanical change to make the tranny last and shift. A controller can't improve control circuits that a mechanical change can.-
