I put the LuK on my Powerstroke, basically the same thing for the IDI, it was easy if a little heavy but I am used to that being a truck mechanic But not that heavy and I am glad I did it, if your dual mass flywheel has not given out yet, just wait, it will and maybe take something along with it from the vibration. So I say if you have to separate the engine and transmission might as well just replace the whole mess. The clutch action is a lot nicer too, lighter pedal and the engagement point is farther from the floor. The only down side is the transmission now growls like an old dump truck at low RPM but it works.
check out these guys poke I went with a clutch for a powerchoke and had the flywheel redrilled for a 13"clutch.I have duplicated the event which caused me to upgrade from my previous LUK set-up and WOW what a difference. There used to be a link here, to some useful IDI-diesel tech info; but it was chopped out by others, in a vain attempt to repress the very essence of the internet: linking!
