93 F250 7.3 IDI S/C XLT 4X4 E40D 3.55LS, Captains chairs, Tutone Mocha, Leer 48" Hiboy cap, FR & RR hitches, full DeeZee running boards. Factory ordered/delivered Jan 93 has 160K+, it's basically a stock truck with all the Ford options, just no disc player.
Toys: 26'Jayco FK TT, 18'Sylvan Pro Fish.
I used to have an 86 Ford F250 with the 6.9 diesel.
My truck had a vacuum leak from the vacuum line coming from the Injector Pump, and it was nearly impossible to shift. Once I got that figured out, it ran great.
Not sure if the 91 7.3 has a vacuum-controlled shift sequence in the tranny, but that's just my experience with a slightly older truck.
Joe, the E4OD is an electronic deal, but uses the same input as the C6 you worked with - the C6 has a VRV on the side of the IP, the E4OD has a FIPL (TPS), one adjusts a vacuum signal and the other electric signal. If there's something wrong with the FIPL trans will act up.

62 seems to be a common one, the converter lockup failure, not good. However, FIPL being out of range (code #23) - did you have the pedal to the floor when pulling the codes? You have to, else you end up with wrong diagnostics.

Went out today and hooked the horse trailer to my truck to see how it pull the transmission worked great for about 10 minutes then started to act like it was silpping and then started not shifting. with out load it was working pretty good kinda acts like it dont know what gear it wants to go in?
Dude, pull the codes like you should, who knows what's going on in there... The first thing that comes to mind with that last situation is high temperature, for the first several minutes after startup the ATF is still fairly cool, and it generally stays fairly cool when you ain't towing, but hook up the heavy trailer and it starts heating right up. A code 62 if you indeed have it means your converter ain't locking up right, a slipping converter does generate lotsa heat, which may explain your issue somewhat?
