I am new to diesel stuff and considering of buying a 1992 Ford F-250 XLT long bed powered by 7.3L IDI non-turbo with 180,000kms. Any info regarding this model will be greatly appreciated(like tow capacity, pros and cons, etc).

Re: 1992 F-250 7.3L non turbo

I've got a '90 7.3 diesel with around 100K. They run real nice with little maintance. Deff has the towing capacity that you would expect from any ford diesel. downside-unless you plan on turbo charging it, you will lack in any sort of high end power. Just do your basic care maintance and she'll last you forever... Oh, check what kind of tranny it has, if it is a non updated and non remanufactured E4OD DO NOT BUY IT!!! C-6 and 5 Speed will last you a very long time. The stock E4OD tranny was a POS up until around '95! GOOD LUCK....

Re: 1992 F-250 7.3L non turbo

Best of luck to you if you decide to buy it. My 92' IDI was the first diesel I had, still runs like a top with 350,xxx miles. The ZF5 went forever with only a clutch replacement. Dont know much about the auto's. As long as you arent in a hurry this rig will pull anything within reason. If you are completely new to diesels as I was, get a Haynes or Clifton book and read up, really helped me. Keep checking this forum too, all kinds of answers to any questions you have.
