1993 7.3 turbo f250 5 speed question.

Hello all,

I have a question that I am sure has been asked several times, however I can't really find a straight answer.
The truck I am looking at buying is a 93 7.3 turbo 5 speed. What is the difference between what I am looking to buy and a power stroke? I have been searching all day with no real answers? Should I shy away from this pickup, if so then why?

Thank you in advance,
Ryan

the differance is the 93 doesnt have a computer.. i have a 94 idi 5spd and am quite happy with her,you cant get the power out of it as easy as you can a stroke but you also dont have as many problems either. just my .02 cents

Re: 1993 7.3 turbo f250 5 speed question.

Thanks for the quick reply, the truck seems to have a lot of power, I am buying this truck mainly because I have a lawn service and my f150 302 is killing me on gas. So, the only differnce is the 93 is not computerized? is the turbo boost the same as the actual powerstroke? Are there websites for the non powerstroke 7.3? I have tried to find them with google but every website is dedicated to 1994 and up.
Thanks again,
ryan

Re: 1993 7.3 turbo f250 5 speed question.

A while back a mechanic who works on school buses (over 300) did an artical on here about the 7.3 vs PS and the new 6.0. He owns a 7.3 and claimed that the 7.3 was the lowest cost to operate and maintain, getting about 14 mpg in mixed driving, 12mpg for the PS. After I read the artical I felt better about the IDI.

I have heard that the cummins gets the best MPG and last the longest, thats why I'm looking into a conversion. Hard to find a cummins. LOL
