1995 Intl 4700 T444E 7.3 Diesel

Recently I had engine die right after I drove it 2 blocks. I keep engine plugged in daily too. Took about 30 min before could start again. It ran smooth and I tried to return to my home 8 blocks away, got 2 houses away and it died again and no restart so pulled it the rest of the way home. Cranks strong always. I was told IDM may be the problem. Has anyone had to replace theirs? Money is tight with bad economy and Intl wants $1,200 for the IDM. I would hate to spend so much if it wasnt the problem. Mechanic scanned it and says EDM not communicating with IDM. Sound familiar? Darn I should have been a mechanic & a driver. A Ford IDM looks like same part as what I have in my Intl. Exterior size and case is same inc plug in connectors. Are the parts interchangeable also?

Howdy, that's the 6-cylinder inline IHC you're asking about, right? This engine, while having the same displacement as the engines we discuss in this forum, is actually nothing like them - you may be better off re-posting your question in this forum:
