3000 rpm shutter,shake,miss?

hi yall just did head gaskets, intake valley pan, i had to remove the ip to remove the valley pan i marked the gear and housing through the access hole on the gear housing and i lined it right back up may b a tooth off since its such a big gear but im pretty sure its right on when it starts it idles rough and smokes white for about a minute or two but then smoothes out but if i throttle her up to 3000 rpm it sputters,shakes and misses i dont know whats causing this

One tooth off can cause problems. Did you take the IP gear cover off? If you did, then it doesn't take much at all to move the gears. Search for "talk about timing" for a link to Ziggsters page and you'll find a procedure for setting the gears right. White smoke at start up is an indication of bad GP's and/or air intrusion.

could leaking return line t's cause the air intrusion causing white smoke?

At start up, yeah. Once the engine is running, fuel pressure will push the air out.
