4" Downpipe?

Has anyone ever had a custom 4" downpipe made for their truck? I was thinking about seeing if my shop could bend me a piece of stainless 4" pipe to the same bend as the banks I have right now and just weld on a 3" flange some how. Any thoughts? Thanks

Re: 4" Downpipe?

If you can get a piece of 4" pipe in there I would like to see it. I have a 3" banks downpipe with AOD trans and when I did my stacks I was wanting to go 4" all the way up to the turbo. No way it was gonna fit so I transitioned from 3 - 4 right at the transmission. Figure as long as the exhaust is getting less and less restrictive as it goes back and the gases cool everything should be Ok. Sounds great too with no muffler.
I was thinking of building the downpipe out of 4" ovalized tubing but that will be pretty involved and pricey so I just ran with what I have for now. Should be stack pics in my gallery.

Re: 4" Downpipe?

Yeah i'll have to look and see if its possible on my truck or not, but your truck is how I'm doing my stacks. I like the "Y" or even running duals under the truck and comming out rather than having a "T" in the bed.

Re: 4" Downpipe?

I have a 3.5" downpipe I made from heavy duty stainless flexible exhaust tubing. I had to trim a bit of the tunnle to make it fit. Its been in there for a year or so now with no problems.
