I was just browsing around on eBay the other night and came across an '88ish F-250 flatbed. The seller said that it had 466 injectors in it. Is that even possible? I'm not calling the guy a liar by any means - I'm just curious. Check out eBay item # 200122179417
I'm doing a little guessing here, but the 466 is a lot bigger motor and even if they did fit what would be the point. You would end up running alot more fuel in the 7.3 than you could use. We have numerous other IH engines here 414, 436 and others and the injectors on those are totaly different. The 466 is the same family just a little bigger so my guess is they wouldn't fit.

Eh, that's 466 cubic inches divided by 6 cylinders, 77.666 cubic inches per cylinder.
The 7.3 is 444 cubic inches, or 55.5 cubic inches per cylinder.
So the 466 isn't significantly bigger, but the (maximum) fuel flow per injector would be.
Now here's the thing, the injectors will only flow the fuel that the IP plunger stroke sends. My bet is if the 466 injectors fit, they will work but probably less effectively than the proper injectors because they would be working outside of their design parameters at low speed.
Kind of like taking a carburetor off of a 460 and bolting it onto a 302. It'll work, but not as well as the right carb.

Checked out this truck on EBay. A 300 HP 7.3L non-turbo, cain't believe that, a standard 7.3L non-turbo is 185 HP. Black smoke when he punches it, prolly the wrong injectors or IP turned up, if IP turned up (as other posts indicate) MELTED PISTONS?. His pic shows lots of blue smoke idleing. He says 132K miles, they only had a 5 digit odometer those years. He wants 1500 within 48 Hrs. at auction end if bought, why did he start the bid so low? Personally I wouldn't touch this one, if you do sure and get a carfax check on it to see how many times it has changed hands and any damage. Hate to admit it but bought my 90 from a guy that said everything was real good, got 7K in it so far and 3 months work. Sure wish I heard of TDS.com before then.My carfax, after I bought it, showed it changed hands 39 times been to Texas-Indiana and Ohio. Was told it only had 180K miles on it, from the carfax I figure it has at least 280K miles and maybe more. The odometer read 80,700 when I bought it. LOL
I agree 100%. I wasn't looking to buy it, I just saw it browsing around on eBay. I usually try to look at the idi's for sale on eBay at least once a week. It just sparked my curiosity.

Seller says:
...will possibly trade for an older style dodge cummins.

Yeah, I guess so. Too bad the guy with the Cummins would be getting ripped off. Sounds like the guy is just trying to play the diesel hype and sucker someone into buying a trainwreck.
