That happens a lot. When parts need to be "Year Specific" then 01/88 will come in to play. Other then that it's an '87 by the Title.

Hope this helps.

For the true answer to a year of a vehicle check the VIN number.....

Position 1,2, and 3- Manufacturer, Make and Type
Position 4 - Brakes/GVWR Class
Position 5,6, and 7- Model or Series f25 = F 250
Position 8 - Engine Type
C or K - IDI
F - DI
I or M - DSL
Position 9 - Check digit
Position 10- Model Year 1994 - R
Position 11- Assembly Plant
Position 12- Constant "A" until 99,999 is reached when "B"
Position 13 through 17 Sequence number begining at 0001

IDI - Indirect injection (turbo diesel)
DI - Direct injection (turbo diesel)
DSL - Diesel

VIN Number Decoder offer to you by Ford Trucks Enthusiasts | www.ford-trucks.com

In MOST cases if a vehicle in N. America is built after 7th or 8th month it is the next years vehicle. I would check to see if yours was registered incorrectly.
