I have an 88 F350 Utility body truck with a 7.3 non turbo with 158,000 miles. First of all the truck smokes blue/ white smoke really bad sometimes upon cold start until it warms up. What seems to be the problem? Also I just changed my oil and filter and it has really low oil pressure- What should I fix? Last- Am I able to add a turbo to this truck? Who makes it? Do I have to change internals in the motor or fuel pump? Computer? Who makes power upgrades for it?
Welcome to the site? How long does it smoke and how long is the wait to start light on? Does it idle faster when cold? Do you have a mechanical oil pressure guage or just stock? Yes, you can turbo, ATS, Banks, Hypermax. No internal changes, you will have to turn up the pump for more power.

No computer on these trucks so no power upgrades except turbo and or propane.

It smokes just until it warms up so after a freeway trip or so but it still smokes a little at idle throughout the day. The wait to start light stays on for about 30 to 45 seconds.YES it idles around 1500 to 2000 RPM when cold upon start. I have just the stock in dash oil guage. Do you know around how much for a turbo kit?
Are you sure the wts light is on for 30-45 sec., it should only be on for around 15 sec. Your cold idle is also way high, i'm not positive but i think it should be 900-1000 rpm. What is the warm idle rpm? there is a cold idle adjustment on the ip, turn it in to turn down, it a little selinoid that pushes on the throttle shaft. I'm thinking you have a fuel problem somewhere, ip, injector, timing, or leak. The stock oil pressure gauge is an on/off switch. If you want to know what your oil pressure is put a real gauge on. I think the going prices for a new turbo system is in the 2000-2500 range. What tranny do you have, can you put that in your sig.
