7.3L IDI Oil Dipstick

My oil dipstick broke. I am not having much luck searching om line. I think i can braise the old one back together. So my question can any one tell me the overall lengt of the dipstick so the calibration will be correct. Thanks

the one in my buddy's 86 F250 was 32" if I remember correctly, I got the same issue as you do with a broken off dipstick - still hoping I can find an intact one in the boneyard...

Ford dealer cost me $45 cdn

Handle total is 13" the blade is 20 1/4" .......Next time you do an oil change check the level with amount of oil installed after a 10 minute drain down hot.

Thanks for the info, I try the repair first then call the local dealerships. The locals guys are very unresponsive. And the online part search yielded no current P/N

I was able to make one using the existing handle. I soldered a stainless steel cable on the end. Then after doing a fresh oil change noted the level then put a solder mark on the cable at the right place. Total cost. Under $10.

My 1990 dipstick has been brazed since I bought the truck in 1994 - still holding up fine! In fact, the brazing seems to centralize the dipstick as it slides down the tube.
