I have come across a mint condition 92 non turbo w/ a 5spd. does anyone know how many ft/lbs of torque it has at the rear wheels. Or should I stay away and look for a turbo? I curently have a heavily modified 351W but should have spent the money on a diesel
i think it has like 345-385 lbs but if i was you i would look for a turbo diesel

385 ft-lbs was the turbo model... but it wasnt that much more than a NA engine until you replaced the downpipe. I know that from the factory the Turbo was only 5-10hp more than the NA. Ford restricted the exhaust to keep the hp and tq numbers down so that people would but the Powerchoke at 1994.5...

I would get a turbo truck,I had a 90 non turbo and it ran great but what a pig!!
I had a hard time pulling cars(5-6000)lbs and had to floor it to get it going and I now have a 94 IDI turbo and evens stock it smoked my non turbo, they say they are not much more power but it is where it makes it that counts,I LOVE my turbo truck.

Ya, the truck is in abbotsford, I just looked at it today, its really clean inside but it needs suspension work on the front left(ball joints). has only 177k kms. Super clean inside. And it needs new rear leaf spring hangers(common on 92's). Its a custom not an XLT which is great for work

All i can tell you is i have a '89 non turbo and 4'10 gears. I pull a 8000 lb trailer with 3500 lb on the truck And I don't very often wish for more power. This has been an extremely reliable truck for me I absolutely have no intention to add a turbo on mine
The roads are fairly flat here though. Btw I also have a matching f350 with a 351.gasser. same gears, same year, same job to do. And I found the diesel to be an easier engine to use for what I do lots more torque WAY WAY better on fuel. Starts pretty good. I dont have as many horses though, so I don't do much racing but it get's job done. Both trucks do actually. I figured in 18 months I have saved enough in fuel toactually pay for my diesel at $5500
that's my opinion
Btw if you don't know about cavitation I recommend you do a search. These engines are supposed to be very prone and it's something you should be aware of before you make a purchase. good luck sound like a nice rig.

Its a bit of a hard choice. My current F250 has long tube headers and a nascar style X pipe 3" exhaust. I get 18mpg with the camper on fully loaded. Down side is when i hit the hills can't keep up with my buddies. This Guy is asking $11k for the diesel seems a bit high?
That is high...you could come to the states and buy that truck for $6k tops for a really really really nice one....I'd save your money. Get a turbo diesel. For that kind of money you could be looking at a nice OBS Powerstroke.

Can you explain to me what you mean? What are leaf spring hangers? Why do you say it is common on a '92? The reason I ask is that the driver's side of the bed is lower than the passenger side on my truck.

The hangers for the rear part of the springs are known to rust, common an any ford truck, not sure what year the started using better materials.

Almost sounded like someone was selling my truck on me there.I have a 92 N/A with 177,000 kilometeres, problems with my left ball joints and my truck is super clean.I do have a XLT tho and no spring hanger issues...
I have no issues with the power of the N/A unless the camper is on.That is the price range I would want for mine if I was to sell it.

I pulled a horse trailer, with 1 horse on, with my truck before a turbo. I had to run the heck out of the truck, out of overdrive, to keep 70mph on the flats in Florida... and had to draft semis in rolling hills to keep speed.
After turbo, the truck still doesn't handle hills especially well, but I can stay IN overdrive and accelerate IN overdrive on flats with THREE horses on the trailer. Slight hills (like 1% grade) don't bother the truck. No semi drafting necessary.
Not as much power as I'd like, still, but she gets the job done. Biggest issues are EGTs when towing. I suspect an intercooler would handle that just fine... not sure if I want to pay those prices, and the jury still seems to be out as to what intercooler size is truly appropriate for our trucks.
By the time I invest all this into the truck, I'll have $15,000 into a $4,000 truck with 50% of the power of a new truck. But it'll still be less expensive to maintain over the long term, right?
