I have discovered that I started losing fuel mileage and it almost seemed as though the 7.3 turbo diesel was running rich. Then I looked under the hood and found what appears to be a leak on the #7 port of the IP. It would seem that after a week of running, I have lost almost 20+ litres of fuel through this leak.
My question is, is there any way to remove this one line (seeing as how it's at the bottom) without removing the other lines first? Looks pretty tight in there and I can get a claw wrench in there but oh boy!
If I have to remove the others first, I guess I have to. I was hoping there was the proverbial "trick" without a trap.
Regards
Hilton Farmer

Welcome to the site. If it is leaking at the fitting, you might be able to tighten it with a crows foot. If you absolutely have to change the line, you may as well chalk it up as an excuse to get your injectors tested and put on a new return line kit.
I had one with apine hole a few weeks back on one of the busses witha 5.9L lot easier if ya pull the lines in a group. word of advise draw out where each line is on the pump and it will make the reassembly a lot easier.

Most guys can remove that line with a Crowsfoot wrench 5/8", undo the line clamps and replace the line. First though you must see if the Orings in the injector return cap are the problem or the line is actually cracked. New lines if needed are available at MWFI cheapest.
Check my gallery for info and pics.

Thanks for the advice. This is something that I hadn't considered. How do I check this component out? Is it a RE&RE of the IP now or is it a simple process?
At $92 for the line, it would be nice to be sure!

Simple process for replacement with the right tools. To check what is required you will have to do some investigation. If the fuel leaking is above the cap nut on the line it would be a possible line cracked, below the nut probably a oring or return line cap distorted or cracked. If you do not have the correct number of line clamps, this will in short order crack a line due to vibration.

Absolutely right on the price. Too bad it's US $s. After exchange, duty and freight, works out to almost 100.00. I'll grab it at International locally.
Thanks though
I really do like the price on the IPs though. At 299. for a rebuilt, it's pretty reasonable. I paid over 800.00 locally last year.

Sorry I missed the OKY/BC, no wreckers in your area, any year 7.3 IDI van or truck will fit on #7.
