88' 5 speed shifter - Diesel Forum

First time poster but long time reader. Does anyone know where i can find a 5 speed shifter? I think the transmission is a Z-F? I have searched on the net and came up high and dry. The local dealer can only get parts for one, but not the whole assembly. I only know one more place to check tomorrow, a local trans. shop, to see if they have a shifter or any other parts. If anyone knows where to find one it sure would be nice!

If I understand you correctly, you are looking for a short throw shifter?

I know exactly what you mean by needing a short shifter, keep knocking knees shifting 2nd?

The trans is a ZF5.

I have looked into it for about and hour and did not come up with a solution either...

There isn't a shifter other than the handle. Everything is inside the transmission.

Thanks for the reply, I did not mention anything about a short throw shifter. I was talking about the whole housing and handle. All I need is a stock replacement. I just can not find a site on the net to buy one from, or better yet, buy just the handle from. That is all I was needing was just a site to purchase a stock replacement shifter...or handle.

ah... ignore what I said earlier.

my only suggestions are FleaBay and boneyards...
