i was drivin my truck today thankin everything was hunky doory and i pull up to a gas station and the truck just cuts off and it smelled like somethin just caught on fire, so i tried to turn the truck back on and nothin happens the gp light doesn't come on the ip doesn't come on so i ran a hot wire to the ip and bumped the starter siloniod and it fires right up but the electric windows don't work the blinker doesn't work and the only way to turn the truck off is by takin the hot wire off the pump. does any body know what could be wrong with my truck

On my 86, there was a connector on the passenger side by the battery and relays. It had a large yellow wire and a small green wire both going into a connector. This connector was burnt and melted badly. I fixed it with spade connectors and haven't had any problems since.

That was the glow plug controller. You can bypass it without any problem. http://www.members.shaw.ca/k2pilot/G...%20diagram.jpg

This diagram shows how to wire the solenoid on the passenger fender-well that actually engages the plugs. Thanks to Ziggster for the pic.
