What kind of boost should I be getting with this ATS system? After fixing a few exaust leaks I still only show 6psi(up from 3psi), sounds weak to me.
The turbines/impellers had no visible damage. Turbo spins free without any bearing slop or noise. I've also replaced o-rings on the intake connections.
Any ideas or is that as good as it gets?

If you are not putting a load on the engine (just daily driving and such) you will not see much more than that. The boost will increase with towing or loading the engine. If you see these numbers with a load, then you should try adjusting the wastegate to provide more boost. I have a Banks, so I don't know what needs to be done to adjust the wastegate on an ATS, but, someone here will know.

This thing has no wastegate that I can find. So I'm guessing this a pretty small turbo by todays standards.
If 6psi is not too far off the mark then I won't waste much more time on it.

The ATS install instructions say:
"At 10,000 feet elevation the 7.3L engine needs 7 psi manifold pressure to burn the fuel. This is why we set the manifold pressure limit at 7 1/2 psi, so that at any elevation this engine will burn all of the fuel. Turning up the boost limit will only result in higher intake air temperatures, which would create less dense air and cause as much as 100° hotter air temperatures, causing a very noticeable loss in horsepower."
Possibly with the non-wastegated unit 6 psi is the norm? It doesn't sound far off either way.

krawlr, go to the archives and do a search for "one two three ram air" in the ubb threads. This is what I did to my 90 f350 with the non wastegated ats turbo. The results were amazing and its's FREE. long story short I went from about 6 lbs. of boost to 11 lbs. and from barely getting out of its own way to being able to leave about 20 feet of black marks from a dead stop. good luck, oldmoto

I'm having trouble getting a picture in my mind but it sounds like a nice fresh ram air system. I'll come up with something.

Is this thging an aftermarket ATS turbo or a factory turbo unit. The old ATS units were non waste gated and behaved a lot like this. The factory turbo and newer ATS are waste gated and should see 10-11 PSI with very little trouble. If ou go beyond that you may be playing with fire vis a vis the other engine components,
