90 e350 7.3 problems - runs hot and blk smoke after injection pump change.

I had my mechanic fix my attept to install a new injection pump. Before I installed the pump the truck ran fine and stayed in the middle of the temperature range. I replaced it because the pump fails after getting hot. Anyways now the truck runs at 3/4 or greater on temperature gauge. I also notice black smoke when at full throttle and when driving faster than 35mpg. This is a new problem. Any ideas? I replaced all 8 injectors, and all 8 glow plugs. The mechanic claimed I bent the fuel lines so they installed a used set. On the installed set of fuel lines, the one to cylinder 6 has a dent. Do you think this has anything to do with my problem? They are climing the timing could be off so much they might have to pull the front of the engine. The engine starts right away and seems to run fine so I think this is BS. Next they claim it could be my brand new fuel injection pump. Sound like bs. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help. Agent1atl

You're most likely overfueling, turn your pump down - mine was doing the same after I had it turned up, the OD comes in at about 35mph and then it smoked real good if I were accelerating, I got tired of that so I re-timed the pump and turn the fuel screw down some good 1/4 turn ad now I get better fuel economy, smoother idle, and I only see some smoke (not a lot) when I'm pulling the 30ft enclosed trailer uphill at freeway speeds with near full throttle from the go-pedal.
