'91 F350 4X4 7.3L Engine/Powertrain Swap?

I have a '91 F350 4x4 Service Truck with a 7.3L non-turbo engine, manual 5-speed trans, manual locking hubs. The transfer case just went out, the trans makes alot of noise, and the engine is tired. So, I'm thinking I will swap the whole drivetrain (except maybe the axles). I was thinking of using a later model donner truck, likely turbo, maybe auto trans,

Any thoughts??????

Is one year better then another and why?

At what year will I need to add the FI control module and just how big of a deal is that?

Could I use the orig. FI system with a later model engine? (turbo?) Would I want to?

Ultimately I want to end up with a clean, reliable, powerful work truck.

The 94 IDI Turbo would be the last year that would be "compatable" with your truck without major wiring mods. You would want to use an "upgraded" E40D trans, transfer cases are easy rebuilds.
