92 7.3 idi - Diesel Forum

Hi guys i am looking at a 92 7.3 idi std trans 1 ton dually for towing i know these engines are not real power houses but what kind of fuel mielage is everyone getting on average and does the banks turbo it work well or is the ats kit better Thanks in advance guys i had a 94 idi 2 years ago but it is in the bone yard and never really figured fuel mielage on it it was stolen and burnt i did like the truck alot

I've got a 92 with an ATS turbo and 4.10 gear. My mileage is 12.5 - 13 in town and 14 freeway (going 70mph). Banks, ATS and Hypermax are all good turbos, I don't think one is any better than the other performance-wise.

ive got a 92 350 dually 7.3 idi and if i drive at 55 mph i can get 17-19 (but who drives that slow on the highway) so at 75-80 mph i usually get 12-14. 4.10 gears kill you on the highway but you will love em when your pullin.
