93 F-250

I am considering buying a '93 F-250 XL 4x4 with 7.3L and 5spd. He is asking $3800 and I plan on talking him down as close to $3000 as I can. Problem being I need a dependable truck that wont nickle and dime me. I have a '94 Ranger XLT with 3.0L and 5spd that is fantastic but hates pulling my pop-up camper. I have always loved diesels and their dependability but I am leary since I havent got the proverbial pot to piss in nor the window to throw it out of!! Am I barking up the wrong tree or heading in the right direction??? Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: 93 F-250

i talked to the owner tonight, he had bought it for his son about 6 mos ago. he says it has 190k miles on it but the engine was replaced at about 90k. says it is tight with no leaks and runs like a bear(which i expected) i'm going to drive it on friday. he says the bottom line is $2800 so unless it drives like total ca-ca i'm thinking it will be next ride!! just curious about the whole cavitation thing, that concerns me a little

Re: 93 F-250

If the motor has been replaced @ 100,000 I would not worry about it, just add the proper additives and enjoy, $2800 is a good price and if I was you I would jump on it and enjoy the new ride.

Re: 93 F-250

All you can do is check for SCAs, get a couple NAPA/Fleetguard test strips. I never knew about SCAs until 100K on mine......do a search under my name for cavitation info I've posted some. Wish I could find a second one for that price........
