93 f-250 rubber in fuel system?

I have a 93 f-250 with the 7.3 idi non-turbo, I am thinking of switching to 100% biodiesel.

The truck runs well and has been taken excellent care of, I think it will last many more years with the number of miles I drive. The truck has 164,000 on it. I do not want to damage the IP or anything else.

Does this IP use rubber seals? What about the switching mechanism that switches from front to rear tanks? Anything else I might have over looked?

I know I will need to change the fuel lines.

Thanks for the help, this site is a wealth of information.

Welcome to TDS...... there is a BIO/alternate fuels section on TDS that may offer excellent info with your problems. There are some areas with "fuel grade" lines in our systems ie the interconnects between tank hookup and main lines. I do not recall BIO runners with any problems with selector valves or fuel lift pumps.

Easy to do

Change the orings, clean the injectors, change the old rubber lines(you should have 1/4") from injector to injector, check glow plugs while you are in there. Be careful w/ injector tips.Be careful w/ plastic tops w/ the male ends when removing from injector tops...old ones crack if you yank too hard and w/o equal pressure on both sides.Get an extra fuel filter when you start to use bio.

Where are you located? You are a candidate for blending w/ that motor.Rob

Thanks for the responses, I'm in Tennessee btw.

We also have 3 farm tractors that get used alot during the summer, especially during hay season, we go through alot of fuel. That is the reason for the bio-diesel.

I have heard that the truck is a good candidate for svo, but would be nice just to run the bio.

Anybody know anything about the injector pump?

Kenny
