'93 F-250 Totaled

Hey guys, I totaled my '93 back in december last year. I just can't see that I'm going to have the time to fix it. Does anybody have any Ideas how much my truck would be worth as is? There are pics in my album of the damage. I'm just trying to decide if it is really worth my troble to fix it first then sell it or just get rid of it?

Re: '93 F-250 Totaled

Here's what I see....you have a darkside ride already. The easy power is addicting.
From a ins investigator's standpoint, the truck is a total.
From a rebuilder's standpoint, this build is a builder's wet dream.
From what I see, 1k in parts and one weekend and the truck is back on the road again. That's paying full pop for a diesel front clip. The color is an easy one to find and the repaint is just as easy, no wierd color matches.
Problem is, you have all the indications to walk away from the truck. It's probably just as well that you put a price on it that would be a quick sell to someone who could use a builder like that.

Re: '93 F-250 Totaled

Now, Now, there no need to make me out to be turning my back on the IDI. If you look at my sig I was a loyal IDI till I die type of dude for awhile(I have also been the user "dsadm")...... But the dark sides pull was too great, alas I have not totally given up on the IDI, but I just don't see going back at this point. I would like to fix my old truck up and keep her but I just can't justify it at this point in time. Anyways, I still have respect for those in the IDI crowd. This was a usless ramble so I apologize. Just looking for some opinions of what to do :-)

Re: '93 F-250 Totaled

thats totaled?
hmm... not too bad.
If I was closer, I'd be interested, but Georgia-Washington... can't get much further.

Alotta these people looking to swap a c6 or e40d to a 5sp manual might be interested... I mean, instead of the paininnnaarse of a trans swap, you could just swap some body parts, fix up the automatic truck and sell at a later date.

of course I can't see the entire damage.

Re: '93 F-250 Totaled

here's the problem....since he has front end damage and the load in the bed took out the front of the bed, its a technical total. while many can live with straightening the bed and back of cab, the ins knows something like that will bite them in the butt. The front clip job, done by the ins, is an easy 3k job. Betcha there is a couple of hours on the left front frame horn. Probably a rough total on the bodyshop bill is 4-5k and that will total a truck easy.

Re: '93 F-250 Totaled

Man, that doesn't look bad at ALL. I think my truck looks worse and it's never been wrecked!! I looks too good to part out too. I'd get it off you if I wasn't 3k miles away!

Re: '93 F-250 Totaled

aklett-
please don't take my comments to be mean spirited. It wasn't the intention. I've seen too many good IDI guys lost to the darkside of recent years.
to the rest of you guys out there in the east coast-
the biggest killer of our IDI's out on the west coast is AGE. Many of us here own some very nice examples of rot-free solid trucks. Unfortunately the age and cost to rebuild from an accident or fire is what kills them. Many of you guys would have seizures over the sheetmetal that gets thrown away out here. the simple cost of repair is what kills them.

Re: '93 F-250 Totaled

Thats really a dumb place to put a power pole..... I remember your icey road problem a year ago and I understand what things cost to repair. Sure, things don't look so bad at first glance. But, after really looking at the damage, I would fix it before I gave it away for parts cost. Towcat has an idea what things cost in the real world. We just can't let go of a great truck. Look at yourself. Its been a year and its still in the garage and you haven't thrown it away. You love it and will fix I hope... So what if the Dark side pulls hard. Its a life style... Not a truck....

Re: '93 F-250 Totaled

How much would you be willing to part with if for? If you can't find a buyer by the time December rolls around, I'd probably be interested. I'll be a lot closer than most of the guys--I'll be up in the Tri-Cities, WA (Kennewick) for winter break.

Ok, well the time has come for me to clean some stuff out of the "garage" and this truck has gotta go. I'm just not going to have the time to fix it up. PM me if you or anyone you know would be interested in this project, I'm looking for $2500.
