93 ford f250 lighting problems

i just got a 93 f250 7.3L diesel. I have no dash lights or tail lights. I have head lights, brake lights, dome light. the fuses are all good. do the lights run through the light switch? any ideas on what to check. the tail light bulbs are good. thanks

Hey I have the same problem, no dash lights at all, but all of the outside lights seem to work fine.

Re: 93 ford f250 lighting problems

Not an uncommon problem with these trucks. There is too much current going through the headlight switch which causes the problem. You need a new light switch.....Napa has them.

I'd add that while replacing the switch and/or the socket for the switch that you should do the relay mod for the headlights or you'll be replacing that switch again sooner rather than later.

Re: 93 ford f250 lighting problems

yeah the stock wiring sucks...i've replaced my headlight switch about 7 or 8 times till i finally did the relay mod. It was the same thing no dash lights or parking lights. My wiring harness on the back of the switch actually melted and the parking light wire melted right in half. they work great now and i went the extra step and used a headlight toggle out of a 2007 freightliner columbia....looks a lot better than stock
