93 non turbo, PowerStroke turbo fit??

I am thinking about buying a 93 f 250 non turbo, i have a 97 powerstroke that has problems (frame bent, trans going out, motor runs like **** and now will not even start), can you put the powerstroke turbo on a 93?? if not how much would a aftermarket turbo kit cost? will it put out as much power as a powerstroke? I want a powerstroke but cant find one in good shape for under $5000 with a 5 speed, What would you do? If any one can help me let me know, Thanks

The IDI and PSD engines are completely different. The PSD turbo would fit as well as any other random turbo (In other words, not easily or well).

Your best bet would be to go with a ATS Wastegated turbo kit. The ATS Aurora 2000 Wastegated Turbo System has been the premier turbo charger system chosen by professionals for over 15 years now. In 1994 Ford installed the ATS turbo kit on every Powerstroke engine produced from the factory. The ATS turbo kit uses a large bypass valve that is engineered to accommodate the engines exhaust gas volume allowing for maximum turbo boost with out the concern of over boosting the high compression engine. By using a large bypass valve and a large final exhaust expansion chamber you maintain very low exhaust back pressure. This low back pressure results in increased combustion efficiency. Combined with recommended fuel settings a 50% increase in rear wheel horsepower can be achieved. Recently the ATS turbo system has been redesigned to utilize the Aurora 2000 turbo charger that has become so popular in the demanding turbo Diesel market. There is no other turbo kit that delivers the rapid response and power that the Aurora 2000 offers. This kit gives your F250 or F350 the performance found on the newer model Power Stroke! In thus you will have more towing umph. The cheapest I've found so far is $1,990.00 on ebay. Now if you get this turbo and for 6.9 applications I recommend tweaking the fuel system by adding a 7.3 non turbos fuel injectors, fuel pump, and if your willing to go there a 7.3's cam and lifters. This will boost the power extremely and while your at it put on a boost pump. If its a 7.3 enjoy the power!

That really sounds like an ATS ad to me....and there is no real great advantage to the "Aurora." It is nothing more than a glorified name change to their original wastegated kit. Hypermax and Banks also make excellent kits and you'd be very happy with any of them. Also...........ATS NEVER supplied turbos to Ford for the PSD. They did for the IDI factory turbo.

The cam and lifters between the 7.3 and 6.9 IDI are exactly the same. There is zero difference and they have the same part number...........This is not a performance upgrade. There is NO significant difference in the IP's between the 6.9 and 7.3 IDI. Stock to stock, there is a slight increase is fuel delivery with the 7.3, but that goes out the window with a simple adjustment of the fuel screw. There also is not any significant difference in performance between their injectors..........NONE.

I'm not trying to flame anyone or start an argument, but simply clearing up any confusion or mis-information.
