94 7.3 overdrive light /transmission question

Hey, my OD light will start flashing and the transmission will feel as if it's not quite gripping right (like a clutch only halfway released when you takeoff in a car). Then I take it to get teh code read, and it fixes itself when they try to read the code!! This has been happening off and on for over a year now. Any ideas?

They are working flawlessly. There doesn't seem to be much of an issue at all, except every once in a while it will start flashing and get that almost slipping feeling when you accelerate.

We'll chech the FIPL/TPS. Not sure when they were last reset or replaced.

Thanks! Any other thoughts? I was trying to think of where there might be a wiring short that could cause this....

Re: 94 7.3 overdrive light /transmission question

Your problem could also be dirty electrical connections for the trans. They need to be cleaned with a contact cleaner that is harmless to plastic, then dried and greased with die-electric grease. You will find 3 connerctors under the master cylinder near the vacuum can. They are hard to reach too. Then on the trans you will find 1 behind that heat shield on the passenger side of the trans. Two are found on the back of the trans at the speedo connector and 1 is on the lever selector. Clean them all and maybe thats all you need. Another thought.... If when you turn on a blinker either left or right does this happen? If so then you have a signal lite that is burned out and the filament is touching the brake lite side of the bulb. This sends the same signal that unlocks the torque converter when you lat off the throttle or touch the brakes. Next time driving while you have your foot on the throttle just touch the brakes and feel the torque converter unlock. If this doesn't happen when you come to a full stop it would be like a standard trans killing the motor because you didn't push in the clutch...
