94 IDI no heat!! - Diesel Forum

Hello everyone..new to the forum. I have a 94 IDI turbo Centurion Classic 350 I bought new..85 K on her now. Recently had to change the Water pump as it was beginning to leak..straight forward job..right?? When I got done.. no heat..small amount at idle,,gets colder the longer I drive it. So far I have changed the T-stat, cap, heater core, hoses and the water pump again!! what am I missing??..6 degrees here this morning..not fun! Does not seem to be any flow thru the heater core..not building any pressure either..hoses are soft. Oh and radiator is 6 month old as well..Help!. Thanks

Did you burp the air out of the heater lines after the pump change?
Try taking the heater lines off at the heater core end , hold the open ends up then add more coolant to the system till it comes to the end of the hoses( if you replaced the heater core as well, may need to rig a funnel and fill the heater core up ), then quickly re-attach to the heater core., now fire the thing up, leave the radiator cap off and get it up to temp, top off the coolant while running, you should have heat now. Replace the radiator cap before turning the engine off.

Albert did you know to put gasket RTV sealant on the 2 upper and 2 lower bolt threads and heads of the water pump.

Sounds like you have some air trapped. As posted above thry that and test. I hope you installed the one and only correct thermostat that can only be bought from Ford or International. It has 192 stamped on it and a large black rubber ring that serves as a gasket under the atat. It keeps it from leaking thru. Was the small metal ball free in the thermaotat housing? On a cold motor you can test for this by squeezing the upper radiator hose and listening for a faint clicking sound. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif[/img]
