It's a 5speed; I'm hoping it's a ZF-5, but I'm not sure.

That's all they used............ ZF5 42 in the diesel.

Not correct, just yesterday a friend was saying he has trans problems with his '94 F350 diesel and his is a Mazda 5 speed. Later I looked in my '91 Ford manual and it was also offered at that time along with the ZF. Check the tag on the side of the case.

on the drivers side of the trans just behind the bellhousing theres a id plate mine has zf stamped on it along with the first gear ratio. you could also look up the trans code that is located on the inside of the drivers door then look it up online or call up ford and check your vin

It's a ZF. How much HP/TQ can it handle with a good clutch and driven reasonably w/some heavy towing.

LMJD check again the Mazda 5 speed is for F350 trucks under 8500lbs with 4.9 and 5.0 engines....... it does however have the external webbing like the E4OD
