Smile Advice on purchasing a 1992 F350 7.3IDI

Hi guys,

I'm looking into buying a 1992 F350 crew cab four door with the 7.3IDI NA and a 5 speed manual transmission.

If anyone has any tips on what I should watch out for and what I should be sure to check to make sure that this truck is in good condition it would be appreciated.

Also I've talked with the current owner and he says that he changes the oil regularly every 3000 miles, changed out the glow plugs last year, interior is good and has seat covers since he owned it and it has 143000 miles on it.

He is asking $4500 for the truck I thought that seemed very reasonable. Anyways if anybody has some advice on what to watch out for and check when I look at it that would be appreciated.

Thanks
George

Ask him about coolant SCAs and did he use them.........

Read up on them yourself.........

Thanks Cdnsarguy,

Good thing you reminded me I almost forgot about that stuff. I'll make sure to ask about that. If I remember correctly the SCA's were to prevent pitting of the cylinder wall due to the cavitation of the coolant causing very high pressure bubbles to collapse on the outside of the cylinder wall while running.

Thanks again
George
