Another radiator question

Hi folks,

Well, my buddy and I replaced my leaky radiator this past weekend.
Across the bottom of the radiator (looking from the driver's seat)
we have the drain pet****, transmission fluid line, the other
transmission fluid line, the lower hose outlet and an *extra* hole.
The *extra* hole is what I'm curious about. The old radiator had
a hose going from there to a "T" in a hose coming from the heater
core. The new radiator has a plug there. My buddy who has a '91
IDI said he had nothing there on his. Is this something that someone
added later? Why? I couldn't get the fitting out of the old radiator
so I plugged the coolant line for now. It works fine. What is it
for?

Any help will be *greatly* appreciated!

The lower return hole from the heater core is for trans fluid heating/cooling.....depending on the season. If you check your old fitting it is a very small inlet hole so not much went through there. In wisconsin you may need trans heating in the winter.

Yep... Petes right on that one. We have that here in Ca. but don't really need it....
