How do I bleed the system? I installed a "T" in the return heater hose and filled the system with the engine running from the top of the radiator until fluid came from the "T" as well as radiator cap mount.

I then ran the vehicle and noted normal running temps. I am going to check the fluid level before I start it next time from both the radiator as well as "T" and will probably top it off from the "T" with a funnel if possible.

Any other suggestions? I thought about unscrewing the block drain plugs just to make sure that there is no air in those areas, but every time I flushed it in the past the water came from there instantly with no hint of air entrapment. Also, the heater is getting plenty of coolant and blows nice and HOT.

Thanks for any hints as to how I might bleed the system.

BTW: I wonder just how much fluid remains in the system after the radiator pet**** has been opened along with both block drain plugs. Hopefully enough to account for approx. 2 gallons of fluid!

Air is lighter than coolant so it will not be down low where the drain plugs are, so it's no wonder that there was no air there. LOL

I'd just top it off, run it and check it for the next few days to compensate for any air bubbles that come loose.

Just be sure the smaller hose that goes to the lower passenger side of the radiator is secure as it is an odd size and standard hoses like to come off under high pressure.

I added a length of 1/2 copper pipe with a 45 degree bend soldered into it in the middle to that smaller lower hose to get it to connect better to the radiator and to aid in draining as it's further from the radiator and easier to disconnect.

Verified 19 mpg city taking off slow as hell the shutting down at red lights, and with the radiator grill blocked flush, no bed cover, "drag shoot" mirrors on I get 24 mpg at 50 to 55 mph on the freeway empty!
However, with a bed cover, no mirrors and Hydroxy

I think the capacity of the E Series may be 6 gallons.l I can't fit in 8 in my E350.

See the following thread: coolant capacity?

Hmmm, I always took it for granted that the E350 would have the same radiator/cooling system as the F series. Especially since in my case it's pushing around a 14,500lbs RV. Thanks for the info Snotzalot.
