Antiloock light on dash stays on

I have a 1990 7.3 IDI (see info below) My antilock I guess RABS light comes on when I turn on the key and when I start the engine the light goes out. When I move the vehicle a few feet the antilock light on the dash comes back on and stays until I shut off the key, When I repeat the process it does the same thing. Any help on what is the problem
Could it be in the RABS circuit of what. Help
Will it hurt to drive with the light on?

Larry

Re: Antiloock light on dash stays on

I wouldn't assume the ABS circuit is bad. I started having intermittant ABS light on my 1992 F250 and was tempted to blame the light. Lots of rear brake work later (bad cylinder, worn shoes, sticking emergency brake) I concluded that it was a good thing I actually checked the brakes out. Now, no light except on startup and dramatically improved braking. Good luck.

Re: Antiloock light on dash stays on

Just installed new brake shoes, seals and cleaned the system good. New brakes really stop the truck. E-brake works good. sets and releases good. next thing to check is the RABS sensor. I will also replace the old fluid.

I noticed when I crawled under I felt the differential housing and it was very hot to the touch after driving solo for 22 miles, is that normal? any other suggestions

Re: Antiloock light on dash stays on

I have the same problem and a Ford Diesel mechanic told me there was a sensor under the hood right behind the passenger side battery that can cause problems with the light. I'm at work now so I can't provide a picture of it for you. I have not tried replacing this myself yet so I'm not sure if that is the cause of mine being on or not.
