i have a 92 f250 7.3 and i love blowing black smoke so i turned my fuel pump up 1 click and i get better mpgs then stock at stock i got close to 300 miles to a tank and now i get around 340 to a tank i thought blowing smoke was a wast of the liquied gold that i put in the tank and yes i have a pyro
blowing lots of smoke is a great debate here. Many posts and it seems that some members get a little adament about thier views. Just search the posts here. I am not in favor of blowing smoke no matter what color, but it is interesting that you are getting better milage. But then again MPG calculation is another topic

*Current project*
1990 f-350 4x4 when bought had tons of problems and also had no tranny ot transfercase
4 speed tranny, transfercase installed, new injectors, advanced timing like it should be, new voltage regualtor, has meyers plow, new clutch master cylinder, I have wiring problems with it right now on the interior guages
i blow smoke only under load or full throttle and thats how i like it. i like being able to blow smoke if i want to but just cruising i like to see out my rearview without looking through black soot.
and yes my ip pump is turned up and yes i have an exhaust, but black smoke and i mean lots of it to me is a waste at almost 5 bucks a gallon, but yes i like it as much as the next guy haha

And that's how you're checking your fuel mileage? Basic grade school math: Fill the tank, write down the mileage, next time you fill it, write down the mileage and the amount of gallons on the refill, subtract the new mileage from the old mileage, divide the gallons into the miles you drove, THAT'S how you check fuel mileage. Deciding you've used a tankful because the needle says empty doesn't mean diddily squat. Plus if the '92's are like previous years, the rear tank is about a couple gallons smaller than the front.
