Anyone with a wastegated Garrett turbo?

I have a wastegated Garrett turbo on my truck and assume that it is stock but I can't read all the numbers molded on the housing. What I have is "?R70 M4?" best I can read. The wastegate has a sticker on it with the numbers 430819-266 then under the first no. 06643 then under the second no. 12387

Does anyone have the same turbo that can read all the numbers. I don't have any problems; I am just curious to know what I have.
As far as the wastegate goes how would you test or know what boost its set at. No I don't have a boost gage YET! I don't know much about wastegates other than they open at a set manifold pressure. Are they adjustible or preset?

Re: Anyone with a wastegated Garrett turbo?

Thanks for the info. I see that yours is wastegated. Do you know how to check if it is working properly? The manual I have says if it holds 5psi its good but I spoke with a diesel service retailor and they said they are set at 9-10psi is this test correct?

Re: Anyone with a wastegated Garrett turbo?

The number you should see on the aluminum housing is A/R .70 that means it is still stock. That is the Ratio value for the impeller housing. To tell if the turbine housing(exhaust side) is stock or not see if there is a Clamp ring holding the down pipe on.If not then it was upgraded since the ATS upgrade(only makers of upgrade stuff since they came up with the setup) has a slip fit down pipe.

Re: Anyone with a wastegated Garrett turbo?

i believe they are set for 9-10, you won't see more then 5 running around empty, probably, all you can do is hope that it isn't working, the turbo won't make more boost then what engine is can handle real quick, a lot of guys shorten the rod so that it opens later or not at all.

Re: Anyone with a wastegated Garrett turbo?

I've got A/R .70 M43 BO cast into my intake housing and 8709-1 stamped into the intake housing just above it, i don't have any stickers under the hood left.

Re: Anyone with a wastegated Garrett turbo?

Thanks for the info, that seems to be the numbers I have also. I was told by one of my local shops that the ford factory turbo is a Garrett TC43.

Re: Anyone with a wastegated Garrett turbo?

I'm guessing they have the "43" part right, but i don't know what the difference is between the "M" and "TC", Garrett made the turbo, ATS put the kit together for the truck and Ford installed it.

Re: Anyone with a wastegated Garrett turbo?

I was told that the numbers A/R .70 M43 BO is just a housing no. and not the actual turbo model. Where the model if ever you need a stock replacement Garrett TC43 is it.
