ATS Intercooler

Does anyone know if the ATS intercooler will work with a Banks Sidewinder turbo setup?

Thinking about intercooling... yet am also thinking about banking the cash and putting it toward the Cummins swap when the IDI inevitably goes tango uniform in another 100,000 miles (3-4 years) or so.

Re: ATS Intercooler

I have never heard of the ATS set up before today. IT sounds like a good deal at a 1000 bucks, IF everything is included for the build up. I would have gladdly paid the money if everything would have bolted to my truck. That is problem with buying things piece meal. You have gather all the parts and then tear into the truck. I am going to look on the ATS site and see if there is any info on the IC's for our trucks. I would think the Banks set up could be made to work with about any system. They are all realtively the same, if you had to make a small bend, or something, that would not be too hard. Scotty

Re: ATS Intercooler

Looking at that system, it looks like it would work for the trucks. Even though I do not see any intake hat, you can buy those from H-max, or fab your own, but heck once you get into the project that much, you could buy a PSD IC for under 200 and then have someone fab you some pipes and buy a hat and you could be in the whole deal for under 500 bucks. Either way, I think the IC would be a worthwhile deal for making more power and being able to stay in the throttle longer without having to worry about EGT's. Scotty

Re: ATS Intercooler

One thing to consider Mike is that you will need to intercool the Cummins so it will be part of the expense of doing the Cummins swap. I'm not sure that the ATS intercooler setup has a large enuff intercooler for a Cummins. I haven't seen one so I don't know for sure. FordCummins recomends either the Dodge intercooler, or an intercooler from a PSD.

Re: ATS Intercooler

Good point, it will just be nice to have the IC already in place so when you do, do the swap, you just run a couple of pipes and you are done. The Cummins IC piping is really easy due to the Turbo laylout. Man, why can't I just find a cummin laying around somewhere? Just kidding, could be one of those real long term projects though. Scotty
