Attn: Silverwolf, fuse posn # 8 !

Hey guys...On Sept 13, I posted about my Fuse postiion# 8 blowing after I hauled a load in my truck bed...couldnt figure out why it was shorting out.
You suggested the light switch - guess what - that was it...darn $17 switch was bad. Chagned the switch and the dash came back on, truck started shifting OK, all is well.

Thanks to everyone for the advice/tips!

When your dash lights were out were the running lamps also out? I may have to get a light switch also.

Re: Attn: Silverwolf, fuse posn # 8 !

I do not know what year the original poster had, but I bet you will find a fried wire and switch connector behind your dash. Use a dental pick to release the spring on the knob, remove the two trim bars and screws behind them, pull the front of the dash off. The running lights use (if memory serves me) the brown wire. I bet it is burnt and brittle. See mine here. Go to the stealer and get a replacement switch and connector. I pulled all of the wires that were good from my original and swapped them into the new one so I did not have to splice them all. Just had to splice the bad one.

Then do a search for "headlight relay" and do that mod asap!
