auto to stick swap

I'm tired of dealing with my crapass auto, even with a "performance" rebuild, upgraded vavle body, and banks trans controller, I just don't like it. I want a straight drive, anyone done this swap? whats involved, what year transmissions will work or are best? Is this more trouble than just getting rid of the truck and buying a straight drive? I can do al the work myself, so labor isn't a big deal I'm just wondering how much is involved.

Re: auto to stick swap

If I had a clue at how much the flywheel and clutches cost for these trucks I wouldn't have even bought my donor truck. The single mass flywheel conversion is more money than what I bought the donor truck for. Lets just say I'm going to wait until the auto packs 'er in before I have to make a decision.
