Banks Stinger Intake

In what way is the Banks Stinger Intake system different than a stock 7.3 IDI intake system other than a high flow air filter? Is there something you can do to make a stock system flow comparably and If not, where can I buy just the intake part?

Re: Banks Stinger Intake

i think it does away with the soup bowl, replaces the filter with a taller high flow filter, and a new airbox lid to accomidate the taller filter. As far as i know it still uses the stock intake tubing. Just some things i discovered flipping through the brochure from banks, could be right or could be wrong, as you know banks has "generous" advertising specs. Re: Banks Stinger Intake

hey ranch did you notice a diff in power from the stinger system, just wondering, if the funds dont come in on this summers commercial salmon season, and i cant afford the sidwinder. I hope to finance a boat and permmit this year or next and could sure use the extra power to pull boats and gear to and fro.

TIA

Re: Banks Stinger Intake

I have the Stinger that I installed two years ago. The intake was designed on a flow bench to get maximum air flow to the engine. I can tell a big difference in power. Banks sent me a copy of a test done by Trailer Life several years ago and they mirrored the Banks test results. Mine runs great at lower elevations (1100 Ft.) but I really need a turbo here in the Mt. states. You can up the injection pump in the lower elevations.
