belt squeel

hi yall,
i got a problem with my belt squeeling when i first take off, then it gets fainter but it is still there. i know it is the belt cause if i spray armor all on it it quits, but it starts back up as the engine gets hot. It is a new belt. Maybe i need to clean the pulleys? Brake cleaner? It does not effect preformance, but sounds like the truck is about to fall apart with all the squeeling.

thanks for your input
Kevin

Did your old belt squeal? If so, could be a weak tensioner. Maybe double-check the belt size. A larger belt would be looser, possibly causing squeal. I've had tiny rocks/sand get stuck in the V grooves and make noise. Otherwise, maybe an accessary not rotating freely, dragging on the belt? BTW-I would clean the pulleys. I usually use an old toothbrush on mine before putting the belt on.

Armor All is not good on belts, it is silicone and will make the belt slip. Try spraying some parts cleaner on the belt to clean the Armor All off and see if you can tighen the belt a little more.

yes the old one did squeel, but i did have to clean the tensioner cause it was hard to turn, so i soaked it with wd40 and then sprayed it with some silicone. and it was fine, but still squeeks. the vaccuum pump is recently new, but i'll check, so the general concences is take take the belt off and see if any components don't turn freely?

thanks, kevin

It's best replace the tensioner when replacing the belt.
