The best part for E4OD

What brand for spare parts is wise for me to look for? I have seen adds from sonnax, but how good are they really?
I'm thinking to do a little rebuild on my poor tranny, so I'm looking for a kit or simular, but need a little info on who is who and whos doing what.... in brands.

Anyone have a good one here? Or had suffer a bad one for the same reason?

Right now my truck is a stand still, full of part from my wifes car...
The winter is about to break over here and the mec season is finally here, so I was thinking of fixing my poor 'old E4OD tranny up and once again take it for a spinn, but need some good brand names?

And some homepages to go with the names too if ya have them...

Thx U very mush on advance..

Greetings from Norway, we are in the middle of easter right now...

Re: The best part for E4OD

Try www.bulkpart.com --I've always had good results with there parts. Do yourself a favor and buy the ATSG manual and the update manual from them.

Thanks for the PM cdnsarguy, I'll contact the norwegian guys and ask them. Thanks.

Re: The best part for E4OD

I have now bought the coast clutch Teflon rings, part # 7G402, after an advice from cdnsarguy, given to me in desember!,(I haven't done noting on my truck coz of the winter, it has been to darn cold to screw... Thats why I'm asking this now, coz the lovely spring is here!! ) Then my question is: should I have bought some more? Like an upgrade kit or something for the pump/pressure plates/rest of the tranny now I have it open? Not the converter, coz I'm planning to do that anyhow in the future. In the case of kits, have any of you some great tips for me on this?

Thx on advance

Re: The best part for E4OD

Is this a good investment?

Catalog Number: RK-E4OD-2 for 90-95 E4OD $109.95 from Baumann:

http://www.becontrols.com/products/e4odcat.htm

or any of this?

http://www.oregonperformancetransmission...ory_Code=E4ODR B

Or is it better "fish" out there?

...still searthing the net thou.... A minor problem is that most of the online shops only ships to the states and the great canadians... life is not easy, I'll give you that... he he

Contact...... Okiegringo he uses a different trans controller and really likes it. No sense in me shipping it as it would cost 3 times as much after taxes here..... call the company or email direct and ask them personally if they would consider shipping stuff.

Re: The best part for E4OD

Came to think of something... I installed a pressure riser on the connector at the right side of tranny, the one with a little cover over, for awhile ago.... Could it be a bad connection or something that ended up in a "no-go" (I do not have R, D, 1 or 2 gear, nothing happens when I put it in gear....) for my tranny?
I will rebuild the tranny anyhow, but I starting to wonder if I should take a really good look at the electric as well.....

I got the manual from ATSG this weekend and I started thinking of this after I have read it thru a couple of times. Great book by the way, can't see how I'll pull this rebuild off without it.

Well, the tranny is down and pulled in the garage, just waiting to get slaughtered by a greenhorn like me.. he he. Well, anyone has started out as a greenhorn right? Anyway, the truck only coasted me 4500,- bucks, so I can take the loss if I screw this up big time, but I will go thru with it.

Work to morrow and then, on Tuesday it is party time…

Wish me, or better yet, my truck, good luck

2nd and reverse are controlled mechanically, they will work with zero electrical connections. Since you have no drive in any range you have a mechanical problem. Either a broken hard part, a bad front pump, or maybe a broken shift linkage. Or a severe internal hydraulic leak.

"good luck"

Re: The best part for E4OD

The tranny is now stripped, washed and cleaned and as far as I can se nothing is wrong. No cracks, no misfits, all gears running great and smooth and all things looking like new inside. Not even any wear on the intermediate band, also looks new. Im gonna reassemble it tomorrow after I have cleaned the tranny case on a big wasing machine on my work tonight. After that I'm gonne check the electrical on it.

A lot of fun taking the tranny apart

...and I sincerly hope it wil be alot of fun putting it all together too

Re: The best part for E4OD

The link works fine on all my computers (I have 3, two stationary and one laptop..) Try go to www.download.com and find the link "manually", so to speak...

Well, I have just put it all together today and I have to say that it's a lot easier to take the tranny apart than to rebuild it, but its done. It's all in there exept for the pump, coz I still have some rebuilds left on that. And I manage to break the manual lever sensor while I was at it . Costs about 170$ over here but the good thing is that I had planned to change it anyway and now I just have to do it....

It was ALOT to change, all the clutch plates and all the sealings... A good thing to have is a GOOD amount of different tools and a welding machine, coz you might have to build some of that spesial tools you need for the rebuild. I would quess the weight of the tranny at about 75 kilos so build a steady table or woorkbench to work on... it's heavy metal
A lot of junk crammed in to that tranny.. he he

Well, I'm gonna post here and tell you how this went when I get the rest of the car screwed back on the tranny, or was it other way around....?

..and did I menstion a lot of beer with all that tools? He he
