Best Way to Work with Vinyl Sheet?

I have an overhead shelf in my truck that holds the CB and some other stuff. I have wanted to recover the shelf--which was originally covered with roof liner material and is now bare metall--with some heavy automotive vinyl material. I now have the material in hand. Was wondering what the best way to affix this material to the metal

I was thinking that applying a weak adhesive to the face of the shelf and sticking the material to the shelf with that would be fine. For the corners, where the material will fold over the back of the shelf, I'm not exactly sure what to do... don't have a stapler that will staple through vinyl.

My thought would be to use the adhesive. 3M makes a spray adhesive that is pretty strong. For the corners, a heat gun might be of use to get them worked over with the glue also.I've Used it before with headiner replacement and construction. Works almost too good. Is it already sticky on the back? Does it have a removable backing?

Nope, no stick... I'd considered the 3M spray adhesive... might try that before taking it to an upholstery shop... just in case it works. :-)

I would be using contact cement, following the instructions on the can to the letter. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] If you know someone in the flooring business some installers have " plastic welders " than can heat join / melt the corners and seams.
