if i was to use an ohm meter on the block heater plug what should i see if the heating element is good

i suppose it is the same for the 97, but the truck i was asking about is a 94 7.3 turbo, not a powerstroke

The block heater in my 1988 draws 4.1 A when warm in operation, about 500 watts. That's about 28 ohms. If the heater element is cold, resistance would be less - figure between 15 - 20 ohms.
