block heater install???

my block heater died, i checked the electrical and there is power at the plug at the block, but no warm starts.i bought a new block heater from napa.the box says 6.9, the parts guy said this will work on my engine as well.has anyone have any experience installing one of these?is there any advise on this subject.i dont want to drain 8 gallons of evans coolant any more times than i have too.....thanks robert

There should have been an instructions sheet in the box.......the one listed below was for the 7.3.....quite a while back.

Re: block heater install???

Just did mine last week. You will need to remove block drain on that side off the motor or else you are going to have a real mess when you remove the old heater. My new heater also said 6.9 but it will fit the 7.3. I had my starter out for replacement which does give you a lot more room to work.
