Blower fan speed

My blower moter will only run on high speed, is there a relay or something that controls the speed, and if so where?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Blower fan speed

Your blower speed control resistors may be disconnected or burned out.
The resistor assembly is in the HVAC air plenum. I can't tell you exactly where it is because I haven't had a problem with mine..yet.

Re: Blower fan speed

Correct as above^ The resistors I believe are located by the blower motor. You just unplug and remove, and reinstall the new setup.

Re: Blower fan speed

I got mine from the dealership for $21. It is under the hood next to the blower motor with three wires and a moulded plug.

Re: Blower fan speed

As an afterthought: be sure and check your plug. I have the same problem in my '94. I removed the resistor block and the resistors were actually good. What happened was a bad connection on one of the spade connnections and it caused the connection to burn open. The spade is no longer on the resistor block and my plug is no good also so I have to get the female plug and resistor block to fix my own truck.

Re: Blower fan speed

I stopped at the Ford store on the way home Tuesday and was utterly amazed. Not only did they have the resistor block, they also had the plug with pigtail. I thought, for sure, they'd have to order the plug if not the resistor block. Turns out, that Ford continued to use this same plug/resistor block on later models. BTW, the plug was almost as expensive as the resistor block. Took me all of about 15 minutes to cut of the burned plug, strip/splice wires, and R&R the resistor block. My replacement steering wheel came yesterday so I will be getting that done soon and won't have a taped up wheel anymore. It'll be nice to have decent leather again.
