blue oval pulling a red oval, grossing 52K with a IDI
I figured the rest of you would get a kick out of this one.
I have a buddy who is a logger, and his truck broke a rocker arm(C-15)
It ran well enough to drive on flat ground, but there is one steep hill through town getting back to my house, which he didn't want to drive up, being affraid to put any load on the motor.
Obviosly we unhooked the trailer to lessen the load(64K total empty), but just the truck was 46K.
I put the truck in 4low, 1rst gear, and it just barely got it rolling on the semi snow covered parking lot. Once on the road, I got it into 3rd, and held 1/3 to 1/2 throttle, 3000rpms the whole way up. pyro at 800 most of the way, except for when the truck would hit a snow patch, spin and then lug, it would climb to 1200. At the top of the hill where it tappered off, I grabbed 4rth and it seemed to continue to gain speed, but the pyro climbed also. speed was around 20-24mph all the way up(rpm limited) Which is FASTER than the truck climbs it under its own power, loaded to around 180K, with a 650hp cat.

While I was in the process of building my pickup with the DT466 I used my 6.9 to pull the dump truck it came out of. I pulled the trailer with it on, and pulled it all around the yard with chains. not a problem. it was a 85 S1900 6 wheel rated for 35000GVW

The links don't work for me either. That's cool though. MyDTpickup- so by the looks of your pictures, you put the F250 cab on the dumptruck chassis? What did you do about the tires sticking out of the fenderwells, and the large gap between the bottom of the grille and the frame and also the gap in the rear? How did the engine fit into the F250? I think a swap like that would be cool...

back in the early 80's i was going s on I5 & lost a clutch on a 78 pete cab over grossing 79,500# when i called for help the kid at the truck stop showed up with a beat up f350 hooked a chain to me & did a slow but steady job of draging me about 2 miles to the exit up the ramp & on into the truck shop. when i asked why they did not send a wrecker this kid who looked about 15 told me that him & his f350 did this about once a month then refused to accept any $ for his time & help.

The question is...which version of the DT466, or better yet, how about the new HT570??!!! The 570 has the same physical demensions of the DT466. Time will tell eh?

I was going to use dually fenders in the rear, custom sheet metal fenders in the front, with a style similar to the hood from the 85 internation S1900 it came from, the gap is solved by using the international bumper, its much taller, I had to cut a hole in the firewall to fit it in, now the valve cover is the arm rest. I am taking that engine and trans out and putting them in a 76 REAL PICKUP for truck pulling. not a pickuptruck body on an international. the international was too heavy. I wanted the 570 but i couldnt find one for my price...Free.
