break in procedure

Is there a specific break in procedure for diesels, specifically our 7.3? Is any differnt for turbo engines versus non-turbo?

Re: break in procedure

TDS has it here......... I do know it is different from what I was advised, that being hook it to a trailer and tow about 200 miles, the load will force the rings to seat better. The diesel likes to warm when breaking in, but it will still take 15000-50000 miles........

Re: break in procedure

There was a recent post about this subject. It might have been over at the "other site". A master mechanic friend of mine always said to "drive it like you stole it" and put a load behind it after 1000 miles and drive it normal. There are as many opinions on this subject as there are RichardCraniums up in the PowerStroke section. did I say that out loud? Well, wack my Richard . OkieG
