My truck 93 came with a tinfoil cover over that plastic box....similar to the firewall cover on a PSD..... the exhaust places a lot of heat in that area..... if it is cracked fixing it would be a wise move....... JB weld ???

If you feel lucky

I bought a plastic "welder" from that freight place by the harbor for about $20.00 and a bag of various "rods" for about $2.00 . It has fixed quite a few things and it seems to work. I recommend practice first or you might melt instead of "weld"
