Bypass oil filter installation question

I am just about ready to go to my local Fleetguard dealer here in Oklahoma and am wondering if I can plumb the pressure and return lines for a bypass oil filter through plugs in the block around the regular oil filter (like the 94-97 Powerstroke guys) or will I need a filter adapter plate with the necessary holes in it?

Re: Bypass oil filter installation question

My local dealer told me that I did not have the bypass plugs on my 93 IDI.

Re: Bypass oil filter installation question

you can tee off at the oil pressure sending unit or there is a plug on the side of the block on the drivers side.I drilled and tapped a hole in the side of the casting just below the oil fill for return.Just stuff a rag down the hole to catch any metal I vacumed out what got in before pulling the rag.there are also plugs in the end of the head that lead to the oil return passage.

Re: Bypass oil filter installation question

Can you give me some idea what these plugs look like or what I will need to get them out (i.e. Hex wrench or Torx)? Are the plugs easily accessible? I want to install an Amsoil BMK-11 but don't want to have to drill and tap.
